Preservation Law Resources

The National Trust for Historic Preservation provides a variety of information and resources on historic preservation law.  Among the most popular general summary is the Layperson's Guide to Historic Preservation Law, a summary of the various laws and regulations that protect historic resources, as well as legal incentives, such as tax credits.

The following is a selection of other popular titles produced by the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Law Department and available on the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Preservation Books website.

Reprints of articles and law summaries from the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Preservation Law Reporter--published from 1981 through 2004 -- also provide a valuable source of information on legal tools and developments in historic preservation law.

Both a Table of Cases and Subject Index are available to locate articles and law summaries from the Preservation Law Reporter. For your convenience, each index is text searchable in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
